Final Short Films from the Late Scott Kalvert to Launch on YouTube; Chili and Punk Puppet Video Trailer Released for First Time Since the Director's Death

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- A video trailer promoting an unreleased series of short films from the late Scott Kalvert, whose work included Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Wahlberg in Basketball Diaries, has been released on YouTube and is available for viewing at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4t71RTrQok

Kalvert, who died in 2014, was known for directing historical music videos such as DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith's "Parents Just Don't Understand," Salt-N-Pepa's "Shoop" and Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch's "Good Vibrations." In addition Kalvert directed the 2002 feature Deuces Wild, starring Stephen Dorff and Brad Renfro.

Donnie Wahlberg, whom Kalvert directed in New Kids on the Block's 1993 video "Dirty Dawg," remembered the director in a series of tweets upon his death.

The unreleased films "Chili and Punk" feature two dimwitted and edgy puppets that move to Hollywood to become famous rap stars. The pilot episode will be released on YouTube in mid-March.

Kalvert enlisted the help of top entertainment professionals in the creation, writing and filming of the series. David Horgan, Kalvert's producer for Will Smith and Mark Wahlberg videos has teamed up with co-creator of the series Charlie Gambetta to carry out Kalvert's last project.

"Scott always had the ability to launch innovative and creative projects that created superstars," said Horgan. "The puppet films are another example of his incredible talent."  The series will feature crazy antics as well as cameo performances from national rap stars and movie celebrities.
