First Showing of LifeThreads' Revolutionary Antimicrobial Medical Apparel at AORN
Fluid Repellent, Durable, Contemporary Styled and Comfortable Garments Outperform Pricier Competitive Professional and Patient Garments

DENVER, March 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The first industry showing of LifeThreads'TM LLC (www.life-threads.com) breakthrough medical apparel product line takes place here at the AORN Surgical Conference & Expo 2015, booth 539, at the Colorado Convention Center.

The LifeThreads antimicrobial product line (www.life-threads.com) includes lab coats, scrubs, scrub warm-up jackets and patient gowns – all fluid-repellent, fashionable and highly durable. The garments are popularly priced at between $8 and $25 retail each. The company plans to add bed linens and privacy curtains later this year.

All LifeThreads garments are treated with zinc pyrithione during the manufacturing process. Zinc pyrithione is an EPA-registered antimicrobial active ingredient that is both a fungistatic and bacteriostatic substance. It is commonly used in dandruff shampoos and in the treatment of psoriasis, eczema and dry skin.

The new LifeThreads garments have been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria concentrations by 99.99-percent in extensive laboratory testing. The garments, when worn by doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals and patients, act as an added layer of protection against cross contamination in healthcare settings where patients are most vulnerable.

Dr. Elena J. Holak, M.D., Pharm.D., M.P.H., a well-known and respected medical professional specializing in anesthesiology, pharmacology and public health, serves as medical director for LifeThreads.

"We are all about stemming the spread of healthcare-associated infections in institutional settings by providing nurses, doctors and patients with the most stylish, durable and effective medical clothing," said Karan Jhunjhunwala, founder and CEO of LifeThreads. "Protecting healthcare workers and their patients is our number one priority; that's why we're proud to exhibit at and support AORN."

LifeThreads' products are currently being rolled out in the Northeastern United States and Florida including specialty retail stores; plans for national distribution are underway and individual garments are available from LifeThreads online store.
